How far in advance should I plan my move with Jitoz?

We recommend planning your move at least 1 week in advance, especially during the main moving season.

What should I take with me on moving day?

Bring everything you or your family will need on moving day. Common items include snacks, toilet paper, paper towels, phone chargers, a change of clothes, toothbrush/paste, and your children's favorite toys. You should also put away medications, important documents (such as birth certificates and social security cards), and anything very valuable or sentimental (jewelry, credit cards, bank account information, etc.). On moving day, put these essential items in a box or bag that you will take with you to your new home.

How to choose the right mover?

- Make a list of local moving companies you plan to research.

- Get a quote from each moving company. Make sure you get moving quotes directly from the company's official website or phone number. Working with moving companies directly will eliminate any middlemen and result in the lowest price.

How do I measure the area of a room in square meters?

- If you don't have a tape measure, you can also measure the area of the room using your own feet.

- Measure the length of your foot using a ruler.

- Measure the length of the room and walk from heel to toe. You can lean against a wall if necessary.

- Multiply the number of steps by the length of the foot. Divide this number by 12 to get the approximate distance from wall to wall. Repeat steps 2-4 to measure the width of the room. To determine the area in square feet, multiply the length of the room by the width of the room.

Movers can dismantle bed frames if necessary, but this will add to the length of the move, which may increase the final price. It is recommended to dismantle all furniture before the movers arrive to save time during the move.

Can movers remove TV brackets from the wall?

We recommend that customers remove all TV brackets before the moving team arrives at their home to reduce the additional time required for the overall move.

What happens if the estimate changes during the move?

Since the move cost estimation process and pre-inspections were completed prior to move day, this is unlikely to happen. However, if this were to happen, the team would contact their operations manager, then re-run the estimate, inform the customer of the change, and obtain approval before proceeding with the move.

Do you need to empty your drawers before moving?

We recommend that you consult with the moving team before your scheduled move date to better understand their team's preferences. We also recommend that you remove any fragile items from drawers before the movers arrive.

What is the most efficient way to pack a house?

- Set aside time to pack in the days before your move. Give yourself enough time to pack carefully without feeling too stressed.

- Decide in what order you will pack your home. The most common way is to pack each room separately.

- Start packing in the least used room in your house.

- Save the most essential items for last. You don't want to pack things you use every day, like your toothbrush, until the last minute. If you don't have time to pack yourself, you can hire professionals. Most moving companies also offer packing services.
